OVERVIEW
Feel good knowing your tourist dollars directly support conservation initiatives and local communities. Enjoy epic and intimate encounters with Sheldrick’s elephant orphans, “The Big 5” and big cats galore in Kenya’s most exclusive and pristine wildlife areas!
Why do we love the conservancies so much?
They’re GORGEOUS!
They’re PRIVATE, with only a few boutique camps.
They often have a higher concentration of wildlife than the national parks.
Driving off-road is often permitted, allowing for more intimate sightings/photographic opportunities.
The number of cars at animal sightings are limited to 4 or 5 to protect the animals, so there are no “mob scenes” as you may see in the parks.
Exciting night game drives and walking safaris offer a fantastic compliment to your safari!
But the most important reason to visit a conservancy is…..
It’s a magnificent and powerful way to support Kenya’s people and animals since conservancies expand the wild areas and support local communities!
OUR FAVORITE CONSERVANCIES & EXPERIENCES:
Create a personalized trip of a lifetime through the African bush!
NAIROBI
They say if you blow into an elephant’s trunk, he’ll remember you forever. What better way to start your African adventure than with a PRIVATE, INTERACTIVE experience at Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Elephant Orphanage where you can actually play with baby elephants? Sheldrick rescues these babies from tragic circumstances, rehabilitates them, and — when they’re ready — releases them back to the wild.
The magic continues at The Giraffe Centre where—if you are very brave!—you may “kiss” a giraffe! We love this organization not only because they’ve saved the critically endangered Rothschild giraffes from extinction, but they provide free programs to Kenya’s youth to educate them about conservation and the environment.
AMBOSELI & NEIGHBORING CONSERVANCIES:
Amboseli is an area of low, "scrubby" vegetation and open grassy plains, all of which makes for easy game viewing. It’s best known for its large herds of elephants and stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest mountain. During game drives, you are guaranteed to see elephants — including big tuskers! — but you may also see lions, hippos, zebras, wildebeest, gazelle, buffalo, leopard, spotted hyena, giraffe, cheetah, and over 300 kinds of birds.
In the conservancies surrounding Amboseli, you’ll find smaller more “boutique” style camps and lodges. While you may still enter the National Park, photographers and natures enthusiasts may choose the more intimate experiences each conservancy offers, including spending time with Craig, Amboseli’s oldest “big tusker”, or capturing silhouettes of animals from the ground on Amboseli’s dry lakebed.
LAIKIPIA:
Located on the plains of Mount Kenya, Laikipia is home to several conservancies, including Ol Pejeta, Lewa and Loisaba. Here, you will find the largest black rhino sanctuaries in East Africa, including the last two Northern White Rhino on Earth protected by 24-hour armed guards. The area also offers a chance to see melanistic (black) leopards, wild dogs, and the “Special 5” unique to the area (Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, Somali ostrich, beisa oryx and gerenuks).
MASAI MARA & NEIGHBORNING CONSERVANCIES
Famed for its large population of black-maned Masai lions, African leopards and Tanzanian cheetahs, Masai Mara is known as “The Jewel of Kenya”. Visitors to its neighboring conservancies enjoy exceptionally intimate wildlife encounters – day and night.
DATES:
We love the conservancies year round.
Focus on the “shoulder seasons” of March and November for the best rates.

COST VARIES PER NUMBER OF GUESTS.
